PREPAIRING YOUR PHOTOS FOR DIGITIZING
How to save money while preparing your family photos for digitizing.
Loose photos ranging in size from wallets to 8x10 can be scanned with our faster scanner, thus saving you money. If we have to scan whole pages of a photo album, or have our staff remove the photos from albums, then there is an additonal labor fee involved.
Photo albums with cellophane covering were a big sensation back in the 80s. But, they come at a cost, now that time has passed. Quite often, those protective coverings inside photo albums have become stuck to the picture. So, if you cannot remove the photo, we must scan the entire page, thru the cellophane covering. Otherwise, you risk ripping or tearing the old photograph. We have to scan these pages on our flatbed scanner, which takes more time and labor. You still get a great digital image, but the entire page is one digital image, rather than several individual photos, as if they were loose.
At Video Doc Productions, we will digitize your photos and save them on a CD-Rom, DVD-Rom, a Flash Drive (USB Thumb Drive) or our newest system, an SSD Hard Drive

Have each photo digitally scanned as a JPEG file. Each photo can be organized by your own classification. Video Doc Digital will also scan the back side of each photo if requested. This is a great way to document and save who is who in each picture. Just ask to have "Both Sides" scanned when you place your order.
Group your photos by year, by a family member, by holiday, or any combination of your choice. We suggest grouping the photos in plastic baggies with a post-it note with the title on it. We will scan each photo as is, without any photo touch-up or restoration. That can be done for an additional fee by clicking here. Our scanning service can digitize photos from a wallet to 8x10. Larger photos can be digitized but have to be done on our flatbed scanner. The more you can help organize the photos, the more money you can save.
